If you love One Hundred Years of Solitude, there’s a new tour of the author Gabriel García Márquez’s Colombia to mark the book’s 50th anniversary next year. The trip will take in Márquez’s birth town of Aracataca, on which the utopian city of Macondo is based, and the indigenous mystical cultures of Tayrona National Park, above, as well as Bogota and Cartagena. New Oberoi opens in India
It has been 14 years since Oberoi opened a new property in India, so Oberoi Sukhvilas Resort, which opened this month near Chandigarh, is already pretty special. Set in 8,000 acres of natural forest, the hotel has 64 spacious rooms, villas and tented suites, designed in classic Indian heritage style with lots of wood and white furnishings. Eurostar fares for £19
Head to Paris, Lille or Brussels from £19 one way with Eurostar from November 28 to January 15. The catch? You have to book through Facebook (snap.eurostar.com) and can’t specify a departure time; only whether you want to travel in the morning or afternoon (exact times are confirmed 48 hours before travel). Tickets are on sale from Monday to November 29; reservations must be made at least a week before departure.
